It is developed during times of uncertainty, discomfort, and inner struggle similar to what you are experiencing right now. In these conditions, Allah grows your tawakkul in Him. According to Imam Al Ghazali, true tawakkul rests on three forms of faith. The first is faith in Allah’s mercy, which removes fear. Faith in His generosity removes the belief that He will hold blessings back. Lastly, faith in His wisdom protects from the urge to question His decree. The sweetness of worship, whether in prayer, hijab, or any other act of obedience, often comes after consistent practice and not before. It can wake a person up when they become heedless, but acting out of love is far superior.
