What is the ruling for this?\\n\"}]}","answer":"{\"ops\":[{\"insert\":\"Wanting to honour the Prophet ﷺ is a manifestation of this love. May Allah bless us all with his love. The occasion of his noble birth is sacred: an occasion of dhikr (remembrance of Allah), sending ṣalawāt (prayers and salutations) upon the Prophet ﷺ, and learning about his life and character. While I commend the brother for his noble intentions, tying the commemoration of the Prophet’s ﷺ birth to a sale risks reducing a sacred remembrance to a marketing tool.\\n\\nThis is similar to how the Christian world commercialized the birth of Prophet ʿĪsā (ʿalayhi al-salām). The Prophet ﷺ warned us that we would follow the footsteps of those before us, even to the point of entering into the same pitfalls and excesses. One of the clearest examples is how the birth of Prophet ʿĪsā (ʿalayhi al-salām) was transformed from a sacred remembrance into a secular, commercial holiday. We must be cautious not to let the Mawlid of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ be treated in the same way.\\n\\nSuch a move would demean the value of this noble occasion and shift the focus from love and reverence for the Prophet ﷺ to material gain. It risks turning the Prophet’s ﷺ birth into a secular festivity, like “Christmas Sales” or “Mother’s Day Specials.” These are rooted in commercial culture, whereas the Mawlid is rooted in love, devotion, and honour. It's our duty to preserve its dignity and keep it free from trivialization. For these reasons, it would not be permissible, in my humble opinion, to attach a sales event to the Mawlid of the Prophet ﷺ.\\n\\nIf a businessperson wishes to honor the Prophet ﷺ through their business, there are better alternative, including:\\n\\nSponsoring or distributing free copies of the Prophet’s ﷺ biography or booklets about his character.\\n\\nHosting or supporting community events (lectures, Mawlid gatherings, food distribution).\\n\\nGiving charity (such as discounts to the poor or donating a portion of profits during Rabiʿ al-Awwal to a good cause).\\n\\nUsing company platforms (social media, mailing lists) to share hadith, seerah gems, or reminders about this blessed occasion.\\n\\nIn this way, the Prophet ﷺ is honored, the public benefits, and barakah enters the business, without commercializing a sacred occasion.\\n\"}]}","tags":[{"_id":"668d9ff00b76658b4c2329ae","tag":"Contemporary Life: Holidays","count":41},{"_id":"68a517faa4b97312c1c85000","tag":"Finance: Income & Employment","count":26},{"_id":"668da0400b76658b4c233240","tag":"Seerah: Other","count":18}],"createdOn":"2025-09-03T18:39:56.335Z"}
