Do we curse Yazid?\\n\"}]}","answer":"{\"ops\":[{\"insert\":\"No, Sunnis do not mourn on the 10th of Muharram, nor do we engage in cursing. We approach history to take lessons from it, not to grieve in ritual form or to curse individuals. Both mourning and cursing are unproductive and do not reflect the prophetic model of responding to tragedy.\\n\\nAl-Husain (may Allah be pleased with him), the beloved grandson of the Prophet ﷺ, attained martyrdom on that day. His rank with Allah does not depend on our mourning, just as the punishment of those responsible is not increased by our cursing. The righteous do not need us to weep for them, they have already succeeded. And we do not curse fellow Muslims, even if they committed great wrongs; this was the way of the early Sunni scholars.\\n\\nIf we wish to honor al-Husain and the noble Ahl al-Bayt, then let us study their lives, learn from their courage, justice, patience, and piety, and strive to emulate them. Let us reflect on the lives they lived, not their deaths. The majority of my teachers were direct descendants of al-Husain (may Allah be pleased with him), and this is what I learned from them.\\n\"}]}","tags":[{"_id":"668d9fe50b76658b4c232867","tag":"Aqeedah: Sects and Religions","count":68},{"_id":"668d9feb0b76658b4c23290a","tag":"Seerah: Lineage of the Prophet","count":4}],"createdOn":"2025-07-07T13:30:49.879Z"}
