We used to take money that people had donated for the masjid, and I believe once there was an amount that was supposed to be for Zakat al Fitr. I have made Tawbah and ask for Allah to accept, but since it involves something physical do I have to return the amount that was taken? If I do not remember how much was taken, do I estimate? Does it have to be given to the same masjid? And is there a difference between money that was meant for the masjid and the money that was for Zakat al Fitr?\\n\"}]}","answer":"{\"ops\":[{\"insert\":\"Yes, the money does need to be returned. Do your best to estimate the amount, and then give it accordingly: if it was zakat, it should go to eligible zakat recipients; if it was intended for the masjid, then return it to that same masjid if it still exists—or, if it no longer does, donate it to another masjid in need. May Allah accept your repentance, cleanse your heart, and reward you abundantly for trying to make things right. These moments of regret are actually moments of great nearness to Allah.\\n\"}]}","tags":[{"_id":"668d9ff70b76658b4c232a7b","tag":"Worship: Sins","count":100},{"_id":"668d9ff20b76658b4c2329f4","tag":"Worship: Repentance","count":63},{"_id":"668da0370b76658b4c233134","tag":"Worship: Charity","count":62},{"_id":"668d9fe10b76658b4c2327d3","tag":"Worship: Masjids, Mosques, and Musallahs","count":50}],"createdOn":"2025-05-26T15:28:09.139Z"}
