Unless someone openly denies the core beliefs, we are not permitted to judge their sincerity.\\n\\nThe Prophet ﷺ accepted people’s outward Islam, even when he was informed by revelation that some were hypocrites. He instructed the Companions to judge by what is apparent. Take, for example, the well-known incident of Usāmah ibn Zayd. During battle, Usāmah killed an enemy soldier who had declared the shahādah at the last moment.
