I’m in my early 20s and the thought genuinely terrifies me. I’ve had this fear my whole life. I had assumed it was just childishness or shyness, but I haven’t grown out of it at all. I’m quite comfortable with the idea of never being close to a man. I’m incredibly uncomfortable whenever a man tries to get to know me. I’m family oriented, and I have a huge family so I’ll never be alone alhamdullilah, but I’d rather just live my life working and tending to the family I already have. If I were to avoid marriage completely, I’d be happy.\\n\\nThat being said, I have seen the Hadith where the Prophet PBUH stated that “he who doesn’t get married is not one of us”. Does that apply to women as well? Could that just be interpreted as advice to people struggling with lust?\\n\"}]}","answer":"{\"ops\":[{\"insert\":\"Yes, it is permissible for a woman to choose not to marry. Marriage in Islam is encouraged, but it is not obligatory for everyone. The ruling of marriage depends on the person's circumstances. For some, it’s obligatory, for others recommended, permissible, discouraged, or even impermissible, depending on the person’s situation.\\n\\nYou're not sinful for choosing a life that aligns with your personality and comfort, as long as you're fulfilling your other religious duties. Allah has made us different. Some people long for partnership, and some feel more whole without it.
