The best that anyone can do is try to convey an explanation of the ayah in another language. In other words, a translation should be seen more as tafsir. That said, from my experience, there is not one translation that I have been able to rely on for every verse that I look up. I usually have to scroll through several translations to find the one that is closest to the Arabic meaning.
