I don't have a specific scholarly reference for this, and as you know, I’m not a self-proclaimed, free-styling mujtahid—I simply transmit what is established in the scholarly tradition. That being said, I have no evidence to say it's impermissible.\\n\\nIn fact, we have numerous examples from the Qur'an and Hadith where prophets and regular people spoke with animals.\\n\\nThere’s the story of the camel that complained to the Prophet (ﷺ) about its ill-treatment by its owner:\\n\\n\\\"The Prophet (ﷺ) entered the garden of a man from the Ansar, and there was a camel. When the Prophet (ﷺ) saw the camel, it began to groan and its eyes shed tears. The Prophet (ﷺ) approached it and patted it on the hump and the base of its head until it calmed down. Then the Prophet (ﷺ) said, 'Who is the owner of this camel? Whose camel is this?' A young man from the Ansar came and said, 'It is mine, O Messenger of Allah.' He (ﷺ) said, 'Do you not fear Allah concerning this beast, which Allah has placed in your possession? It has complained to me that you starve it and exhaust it.'” (\"},{\"attributes\":{\"italic\":true},\"insert\":\"Source\"},{\"insert\":\": \"},{\"attributes\":{\"link\":\"https://sunnah.com/abudawud:2549\"},\"insert\":\"Sunan Abu Dawood, 2549\"},{\"insert\":\").\\n\\nThere's also the famous hadith about a cow and a wolf:\\n\\nOnce Allah's Messenger (ﷺ); offered the morning prayer and then faced the people and said, \\\"While a man was driving a cow, he suddenly rode over it and beat it. The cow said, \\\"We have not been created for this, but we have been created for sloughing.\\\" On that the people said astonishingly, \\\"Glorified be Allah! A cow speaks!\\\" The Prophet (ﷺ) said, \\\"I believe this, and Abu Bakr and `Umar too, believe it, although neither of them was present there. While a person was amongst his sheep, a wolf attacked and took one of the sheep. The man chased the wolf till he saved it from the wolf, where upon the wolf said, 'You have saved it from me; but who will guard it on the day of the wild beasts when there will be no shepherd to guard them except me (because of riots and afflictions)? ' \\\" The people said surprisingly, \\\"Glorified be Allah! A wolf speaks!\\\" The Prophet (ﷺ) said, \\\"But I believe this, and Abu Bakr and `Umar too, believe this, although neither of them was present there.\\\" (\"},{\"attributes\":{\"italic\":true},\"insert\":\"Source\"},{\"insert\":\": \"},{\"attributes\":{\"link\":\"https://sunnah.com/bukhari:3471\"},\"insert\":\"Sahih al-Bukhari, 3471\"},{\"insert\":\").\"}]}","tags":[{"_id":"668d9ff70b76658b4c232a80","tag":"Seerah: Sunnah and Hadith","count":68},{"_id":"668d9ffb0b76658b4c232aee","tag":"Contemporary Life: Animals","count":37}],"createdOn":"2024-11-08T00:58:01.595Z"}
