I think it’s something good to partake in. Recently I’ve been having this debate with people about protesting whether it’s Islamically allowed since it’s been so convoluted by other things. Recently I have seen videos of people waving pride flags at these protests. Sometimes there’s loud music and a lot of free mixing both which are Haram in my understanding. I’ve heard some scholars say they have more harm than benefits because of such things and recommend staying away from it. Granted these are scholars who live in Muslim lands. There are scholars in the west that obviously partake in them. So what should we do in these circumstances should we still partake in these protests?","answer":"{\"ops\":[{\"insert\":\"Protests can serve as a means to express disagreement with injustice, aligning with the prophetic teaching of addressing wrongs.\\n\\nAccording to the Prophet (ﷺ), if one witnesses an evil, they should strive to change it with their hand; if unable, then with their tongue; and if still unable, then detest it in their heart. However, we are not passive observers waiting for divine intervention; rather, we must exert effort through available means and subsequently pray to Allah for success. While recognizing Allah as the creator of all means and the master of all, we don't place blind faith in the tools or the hands of others. Our faith and hope are anchored in Allah alone.\\n\\nConsequently, it would be irrational to disobey Allah while seeking His help. Instead, we seek Allah's assistance by repenting from our sins and adjusting our ways. Only through this approach can Allah bring about positive change, as emphasized in the Quran [\"},{\"attributes\":{\"link\":\"https://quran.com/13/11?translations=20\"},\"insert\":\"13:11\"},{\"insert\":\"].\\n\\nIn our tradition, during droughts, the community is advised to repent from sins, observe a three-day fast, and then gather to pray for rain. This practice exemplifies how to seek Allah's help during challenging times. Engaging in behavior contrary to Allah's guidance is not the means to seek His assistance.\\n\\nIn conclusion, protests are permissible as long as they refrain from involving impermissible acts, ensuring their alignment with Islamic principles.\\n\"}]}","tags":[{"_id":"668d9fde0b76658b4c23277c","tag":"Contemporary Life: Politics","count":35}],"createdOn":"2024-07-09T20:42:20.602Z"}
