Is your salah invalid? For example, what if a woman's sleeve rides up and exposes her arm, or if a man's shirt rides up his back?","answer":"{\"ops\":[{\"insert\":\"The jurists are in agreement that the ṣalāh becomes invalid when someone intentionally exposes their ʿawrah. When the ʿawrah is unintentionally exposed, they differ on the matter. According to the Ḥanafīs, if the area exposed is equal to a quarter of the limb (forearm in your example) and it remains exposed for an entire rukn (integral) of ṣalāh, like for example, when you rise up from rukūʿ (bowing), then the ṣalāh becomes invalid. According to the Shāfiʿīs and Mālikīs, if any portion of the ʿawrah is exposed, it has to be covered immediately otherwise the ṣalāh is invalid. Lastly, in the Ḥanbalī school, if a small portion of the ʿawrah becomes exposed, it does not invalidate the ṣalāh, even if it stays exposed for a long time. That said, as I always advise, we should learn and stick with one madhhab to the best of our ability, and when there is legitimate difficulty, we can look for easier opinions.\\n\"}]}","tags":[{"_id":"668d9fef0b76658b4c232985","tag":"Salah: Validity","count":164},{"_id":"668d9fde0b76658b4c232779","tag":"Women: Modesty","count":62},{"_id":"668d9fe00b76658b4c2327b5","tag":"Men: Modesty","count":39}],"createdOn":"2024-07-09T20:41:06.200Z"}
