So, as long as tips are entirely voluntary, it’s all good inshāʾa Allah.\nThe distinction between a hiba (gift) and sadaqa (charity) lies in the fact that a hiba can be given to anyone, including the wealthy, and for various reasons, whereas sadaqa is primarily directed towards individuals in need.
