Should it be between the parents or between the prospective husband and wife?","answer":"The mahr should be decided by the woman and her parents. It should be a family matter they all discuss and agree upon with everyone's best interests in mind. I am fully aware of the frustrations some might have with parents who demand outrageously high mahr and complicate things but the correct approach is not to cut them out of the process. As Muslims, the family unit is of utmost importance for us, and let's not forget that our family unit is not restricted to the husband, wife, and kids, rather it includes parents, grand-parents, siblings, aunts & uncles. Marriage for us is a union between two families, not two individuals. InshaAllah parents realize how difficult it is for people to get married these days and they do what they can to facilitate, not complicate.","tags":[{"_id":"668d9fdf0b76658b4c2327a6","tag":"Marriage: Pre-Marriage","count":68},{"_id":"668d9fdf0b76658b4c2327a9","tag":"Relationships: Potential Spouse","count":44},{"_id":"668d9ff40b76658b4c232a2f","tag":"Marriage: Mahr","count":18}],"createdOn":"2024-07-09T20:40:10.734Z"}
