Second part of the question is does this also apply to female semen/ sexual discharge?","answer":"For clarity, the Arabic term \"maniyy\" is used by Muslim scholars to refer to both male and female sexual fluid that comes from an orgasm. While the Arabic word \"maniyy\" accommodates both sexes, the english word \"semen\" only refers to the mixture of sperm and fluid produced by men. Since women do not produce sperm, the term \"semen\" does not apply to them. \nHaving said that, \"maniyy\" from both men and women is pure, so  a prayer done with clothing that has semen on it will be valid. However, it's better to avoid this because other schools, such as the Hanafi school, view maniyy as impure and we should always strive to respect scholarly differences whenever we can.","tags":[{"_id":"668d9fef0b76658b4c232985","tag":"Salah: Validity","count":156},{"_id":"668d9fe40b76658b4c232837","tag":"Tahara: Wudu","count":117},{"_id":"668d9fe00b76658b4c2327bd","tag":"Tahara: Impurities and Invalidators","count":52},{"_id":"668d9fef0b76658b4c232995","tag":"Men: Sexual Health","count":25},{"_id":"668d9ff90b76658b4c232aa3","tag":"Hanafi","count":11},{"_id":"668d9ff90b76658b4c232aa6","tag":"Shafi","count":10}],"createdOn":"2024-07-09T20:39:21.853Z"}
